Description

After being inspired by this and then creating this login wallpaper for the new unibody MacBook Pro, I received an overwhelming positive response and a couple of requests to create more wallpapers for the other portable Macs. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here they are!

This pack contains two different wallpapers (aluminium and dark metal) for each of these Macs: unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro, old MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, black MacBook and white MacBook. All the wallpapers are in their respective MacBook's native resolution; 1920x1200 and 1440x900 for the Pros and 1280x800 for the rest. Also included are the wallpapers without any MacBooks on them.

Any feedback, be it about misalignment or just praise, is very welcome!

UPDATED May 4th -09: MacBook white was a bit misaligned, fixed it.
UPDATED September 26th -09: Native resolutions (1920x1200) for the 17" MacBook Pro included.

FAQ
----------
How do I use these totally awesome wallpapers?
For 10.5 Leopard or higher: First, go to /System/Library/CoreServices and create a backup of the file named DefaultDesktop.jpg. Then unzip the downloaded archive, select the wallpaper you want to use and rename it to DefaultDesktop.jpg. Copy your new DefaultDesktop.jpg to the CoreServices folder and replace the old one. Voilà!

For 10.4 Tiger or lower: Check out this article [link] over at OS X Daily.

So what's up with the old Pro?
Yeah, I know that the surface of the "old MacBook Pro" not quite logically fades to a dark area towards the back of it, and this is because the Apple advertisements for it back in the days had a black background as opposed to the current lighter ones. So there aren't really any high resolution source images I could use that doesn't have the darker area—that is, unless someone can take their Pro into a photo studio, take a picture of it with a white background and exact perspective and then do a cut-out. :B Oh well I think it looks pretty cool anyway.

Why is the black MacBook the only one with the lights "on?"
I decided it looks a lot better that way and hey, you probably couldn't tell if they were on on the other ones anyway. They actually are! ...Or are they?

I can haz wallpaper for stationary Macs?
Sure you can! Check them out right here: [link]
